to Being Home
Our Mission
For 45 years, InSpirit Patient Housing and our predecessor The Church Apartment Ministry have provided comfortable, affordable apartments to people traveling to the Texas Medical Center for treatment. The apartments have been leased and furnished by Houston-area churches and made available at a very low cost to patients and their family or friends traveling with them. InSpirit is a nondenominational coalition of local churches moved by the common goal of serving God by helping people through a difficult and stressful time in their lives.
With regret, we must announce that InSpirit Patient Housing will cease operations at the end of 2025. Our apartments will be available through December 31, 2025. The last day to submit an application is November 30, 2025. Our availability is limited as member churches complete their leasing agreements, so we encourage anyone who needs housing at this time to apply to multiple providers. We will continue to serve as many people as we can.
We are grateful for and blessed by the meaningful work we have been able to perform over the years and the relationships we have forged with patients, caregivers and families, social workers, and other volunteers and service organizations. Blessings to all.
NOTE: If you are currently in one of our apartments, the payment link in our application portal will be available through December 31, 2025. To make payments after that date, please contact your sponsoring church for arrangements.

Our Process
InSpirit Patient Housing is a coalition of churches sharing a single application process, with the goal of meeting the needs of as many people as possible. All you need to do is fill out our simple online application with your contact information, the hospital or facility you need to be near, your expected dates of need, and the number of people staying with you. A volunteer from InSpirit will follow up with you—or your designated point of contact—to confirm the details about your stay, and then will pass the application along to the pool of churches. You'll receive a call from a church volunteer if they have an apartment that matches your needs.
Our Guests Say
Our Ministry

The word inspirit means to encourage, hearten, and fill with comfort and courage. That is the essence of what InSpirit Patient Housing aims to provide. For more than 40 years, volunteers from InSpirit's member churches have provided apartments to people traveling to the Texas Medical Center for treatment, collaborating to make sure no need goes unmet. Each church leases apartments, which are comfortably furnished and maintained by volunteers. In doing this, InSpirit's volunteers look to serve God and Christ by showing love to all in need. Our ministry is inclusive: we welcome people of all faiths or no faith, and we will never pressure you to discuss spiritual concerns. We understand that traveling for medical treatment is stressful, and our volunteers are caring, experienced, and sensitive.
