The Next Best Thing
to Being Home

Our Mission

InSpirit Patient Housing provides comfortable, affordable apartments to people traveling to the Texas Medical Center for medical treatment. The apartments are leased and furnished by Houston-area churches and made available to patients, and their family or friends traveling with them, at a very low cost. InSpirit is a nondenominational coalition of local churches, all moved by the common goal of serving God by helping people through a difficult and stressful time in their lives.

Our Process

Nice woman talking on the phone

InSpirit Patient Housing is a coalition of churches sharing a single application process, with the goal of meeting the needs of as many people as possible. All you need to do is fill out our simple online application with your contact information, the hospital or facility you need to be near, your expected dates of need, and the number of people staying with you. A volunteer from InSpirit will follow up with you—or your designated point of contact—to confirm the details about your stay, and then will pass the application along to the pool of churches. You'll receive a call from a church volunteer if they have an apartment that matches your needs.

Our Guests Say

From the moment my wife opened the door, it was evident that not only would we have housing, but a home... a sanctuary.

Thank you so much for your kindness while we were in Houston. The entire experience was so positive and enriching on many levels. You are engaged in a very effective ministry.

We cannot adequately express how appreciative we are for your help, generosity, thoughtfulness, and prayers. We came to Houston in a very uncertain and anxious time, and we were greeted with help and a safe, comfortable place to live. Your ministry is a true Godsend.

Y’all have truly helped with peace of mind allowing us to stay as your guest. May you continue serving the One Most High, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

You were an answer to our prayers. You provided us with a comfortable home where we felt safe during our six-week stay in Houston.

We appreciate the generosity of you and the church members in providing housing for patients such as my mother. What an answer to prayer! May God continue to bless you as you bless others.

We feel God put you in our lives to help us when we were hurting and needed to be ministered to. Thank you so much.

Thank you for all your hospitality! The wonderful, well furnished apartment and your encouragement brought so much joy to our health journey here in Houston. Your special hearts deeply ministered the love of Jesus to us.

We have been enjoying so many blessings from your ministry while we were so far from home. Please thank everyone involved in giving of themselves so generously to those of us going through a rough time.

You have made it possible for me to receive life-saving treatments at M.D. Anderson on two different occasions by providing my husband and me with a comfortable home away from home. We are eternally grateful and will always keep you and your ministry in our prayers. You are the hands and feet of Christ.

Thank you for your prayers and support during our stay in your apartment. We pray the Lord will richly bless your ministry. It has truly been a blessing to us.

We thank you for this apartment and the many kindnesses we have received from you. This apartment has made an unpleasant time for us very comfortable.

I truly appreciate the help you’ve given me and my family. May God sustain your ministry and enable you to keep helping others.

These dwelling places really are sanctuaries that bring a sense of peace and security to people that are immersed in the moments of isolation and despair that serious illnesses can bring. This gift is priceless.

Our Ministry

The word inspirit means to encourage, hearten, and fill with comfort and courage. That is the essence of what InSpirit Patient Housing aims to provide. For nearly 40 years, volunteers from InSpirit's member churches have provided apartments to people traveling to the Texas Medical Center for treatment, collaborating to make sure no need goes unmet. Each church leases apartments, which are comfortably furnished and maintained by volunteers. In doing this, InSpirit's volunteers look to serve God and Christ by showing love to all in need. Our ministry is inclusive: we welcome people of all faiths or no faith, and we will never pressure you to discuss spiritual concerns. We understand that traveling for medical treatment is stressful, and our volunteers are caring, experienced, and sensitive.
